What to Expect at your Newborn Photoshoot
You have packed your hospital bag.
You have discussed a plan for how to get to the hospital.
You have a pram and a carseat.
Have you booked your newborn photographer?
Booking your newborn photographer is an essential part for every mum-to-be’s checklist. You might be wondering what to expect at your newborn photoshoot. Why don’t you take a quick look behind the scenes in the video below with Rachel from Scribbly Gum Photography?
With Scribbly Gum Photography, you are invited to a complimentary consult. Ideally, this is well before your baby’s arrival! You have the opportunity to meet with Rachel, plan your personalised photoshoot and have any of your questions answered.
Newborn photoshoots include the immediate family, siblings, photos capturing the tiny baby details and of course, plenty of the baby! If you also have a fur baby, they are welcome to join in too!
Your newborn photoshoot is held in the convenience and comfort of your home. Rachel will bring everything with her. When she arrives, she takes a look around to see where to set up. She looks for the best lighting and space; are there any big windows? Is it a bright and sunny day? Where will baby be most comfortable? Rachel is skilled at transforming what looks like an ordinary floor or bed to create beautiful portraits of your baby. During the photoshoot, Rachel follows your baby’s cues to ensure bub is happy, safe and comfortable.
It’s completely expected and normal that your baby will need to feed, or have a nappy change during the photoshoot. Newborn photoshoots will take approximately 3 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeds, nappies and settling. Sometimes photoshoots will finish a little earlier, some a little later. Keeping the room warm will also help to settle the baby and keep them cozy during their photoshoot.

“A huge thank you to Rachel who captured such a precious time in our lives! We will forever cherish the pictures she took when our son Mason was only a few weeks old. Rachel is such a loving and patient person she made the whole experience enjoyable… even when we had surprises from a newborn without a nappy on!”
