Family Portraits… in the rain!
You might know the feeling of having a couple of busy kiddos on a rainy day, busting at their little seams to get out and involved in the great outdoors. This particular day? A little chilly, and a little drizzly. It certainly didn’t stop this fabulous family from getting out and enjoying and adventure. The boys had a fabulous play time in the rain, stamping and running through the puddles! We had decided ahead of time to keep this part of the photoshoot fun and relaxed. Have a little peek through the family photos and you will get a sense for how much fun they love to have all together, as well as the special connection between them all.
Once the boys were finished with getting drenched, Lisa and I headed out for a few more maternity portraits. We headed down the stairs towards the bay and the glistening stairs, framed Lisa perfectly so we couldn’t help but stop and show off the bump on the way to the water. If you have kids, you will know that keeping them happy and entertained while capturing a couple’s portrait is no easy feat. I had both boys with me, one on my lap and the other tucked under my wing while they ‘helped’ me make sure their parents were smiling.
In The Water & Underwater Maternity Portraits
Lisa has always loved the water and the outdoors, so heading out to the beach was a must for us. We chose a beautiful, protected bay to ensure both of our safety while capturing the underwater portraits. See what Lisa says about the photoshoot:
Having an underwater maternity photoshoot was Rachel’s idea, and let me tell you, every pregnant woman should have this experience!! I was blown away by her creativity and it was honestly the most fun I’ve had in ages. She captured my son’s first birthday, this pregnancy, and now I can’t wait for her to do our newborn photos in a couple of weeks. We have truly found the perfect person to capture our family milestones.
At 37 weeks pregnant, the water made me feel wonderfully weightless, and I felt like a kid again. Rachel made me feel comfortable in front of the camera, was patient with my limited lung capacity and let me go at my own pace. I was right to trust her judgement and vision. The photos speak for themselves – they’re spectacular! She somehow managed to make me look graceful, ethereal and serenely beautiful. They capture my bump and curves so perfectly, I actually started crying halfway through the viewing because I love them so much. And the experience itself – she is such a pleasure to work with.
