Because when it comes to photoshoots, there’s no one size fits all.
Let’s explore some of my favourite maternity photoshoot locations. I’ll show you some examples of what other expectant mums have done. Use this as inspiration, then, let’s talk. We can celebrate your personality with the perfect location for you.
Maternity Photography Location 1: Underwater

Let’s satisfy that adventurous side of you with an underwater maternity photoshoot. Take the weight off, feel the freedom of the water and let’s create something special for you.
Being in the water when pregnant feels so light and weightless. Having an underwater maternity photoshoot is a stunning way to celebrate your pregnancy and here around Wollongong we have so many great options!
Every photoshoot is truly unique.
I bet you have questions, learn more about underwater maternity photography.

I absolutely loved my underwater maternity photo shoot. I was a little nervous, thinking I might look silly in the photos but they are the opposite.
Jess
They are stunning, the water and light just adds such beautiful detail to the photos.
Maternity Photography Location 2: Mobile Studio

A mobile studio allows me to come to you, in the privacy and comfort of your home and provide a styled setup. It includes backdrops, lighting and various things we need for a photoshoot to have that studio look.
There’s a few reasons that this might be for you:
You might love this style and look!
Comfort and convenience, especially if you have a high risk pregnancy, or struggling to get around, this might be a fabulous option for you. You can still have the opportunity to remember this moment. Let’s create some beautiful images, whilst keeping you comfortable.
Or, it might be raining bucketloads and we decide to stay indoors.
And finally, privacy. Multiple outfit changes, showing some skin… Stunning images, in your own home with my mobile studio.

The Adventure Has Already Begun
Maternity Photography Location 3: The Beach

We live in paradise, so I’m sure it not a surprise that one of our gorgeous Wollongong beaches makes the top 5 maternity photoshoot locations.
Nothing better than a colourful sky, sand between your toes and having the absolute time of your life. We are lucky to have so many beautiful beaches to choose from. Toddlers and fur-babies are very welcome to join.
Choose to stay by the water, or head up into the dunes. We can change it up and mix textures with rocks, grassy sand dunes and even get lucky with some reflections.
Do you know the one question everyone asks?
It’s what do I wear for my photoshoot?
Both of these dresses are part of my client wardrobe and are available to you when you book your maternity photoshoot. The What to Wear Ebook is also a free resource to help make it easy to dress the family.
Rachel took incredible photos of our toddler who was CRAZY on the day. She took it in her stride and captured so many very brief special moments that I would not have believed happened if I didn’t see the photos!

Maternity Photography Location 4: Gardens & Greenery

Features you will love. Stunning greenery, ease of access and a wide array of garden styles. Can’t decide where to go? I am happy to guide you.
We have so many beautiful options to celebrate your bump with a maternity photoshoot in and around Wollongong. Some of my favourites include:
– Wollongong Botanic Gardens
– Shoalhaven Heads Botanic Gardens
– Rhododendron Gardens
– Camellia Gardens
And outside of that? There’s so many beautiful little pockets of greenery that I have tucked into my sleeves ready to match with the perfect family.

When considering the best maternity photoshoot location, be sure to consider safety as well. This can include slippery, rocky, slopey and uneven terrain, your physical comfort and distance of walking, proximity of bathrooms, places to sit for a rest if needed. With toddlers and kids, we are always extra careful around water, as they are usually unfenced.

Maternity Photography Location 5: Bombo Headland

Bombo Headland is such a gorgeous location for a maternity photoshoot!
There’s lots of opportunity here to mix colours and textures, with lots of long grasses, stunning rock features, an expansive ocean backdrop and sometimes even a glorious sunset.
If you love something a bit different, with high visually impact, Bombo Headland is wonderful in both colour and black and white.

What locations do you love most? What feels right for you? I would love to hear what you think. We are lucky to have so many options, there is something for everyone. From studio to outdoors, even underwater! I am versatile and I am ready. What we will create for you?
The best time to book your maternity and newborn photoshoots is early into your second trimester.
